and I think it’ s just because people are rage quitting. But when it came to multiplayer, I couldn’ t find anyone to play with. I enjoyed playing on other peoples tracks the most in this game Bajo.

The best part is that on these tracks you can set the difficulty, and because the AI doesn’ t react well to user made obstacles, it’ s easier to win on these maps and you still get rewards to unlock cars and increase your driver level.

You can get your own track full of ramps and even loop de loops within minutes. The game also lets you build your own tracks! It’ s fairly simple map building, but that’ s not a bad thing. It’ s worth doing this as much as possible because the more shortcuts you open and more enemies you take out, the closer you’ ll get to that tough to reach first place position. When it’ s completely full, you can activate a fast power dash which can be used to spectacularly break open shortcuts, explode through gas tanks which can take out other cars, or you can use it to ram oth er players out of the race. Another great mechanic is the “ POWER” meter which fill s up as you drift, or tailgate another car. It is a good looking game isn’ t it DARREN? Even though locations don’ t seem to vary that much. That means the developers have balanced and built a solid game engine. See a pillar of cement? No worries! See a concrete fence, not a problem! The destruction is quite visually complex too, and you won’ t notice any frame rate drops. For example, there are lots of cars on screen at once, and the world is full of destructible objects. In fact, that might be enough for spawnlings to persist with it. Unboundedededed does so many things well. The formula for ridge racer is to start in last or near last place, and work your way to first by the end of the race. But if you have the stamina, you might enjoy the new spin on the series. I found when I finished a race rather than pump my fist in the air and go “ YEAH!” I was more like “ FINALLY!”. So a fair warning to spawnlings – even if you’ re a fantastic racer, you will probably feel the need rage quit this game.

Yeah, I think part of why it’ s so hard is that the career maps mostly have very tight corners, so you don’ t really get much training or time to learn how to manage your drift. But it’ s so hard to manage the turns, you end up not doing it as much because one false move and the whole race is over and you’ re back in last place. I like that the drift has a risk – reward thing to it – it’ s risky to drift, but you are rewarded with the power boost. I used every drift skill I had ever learned and still, I was spinning out and incorrectly judging most turns. Me too Hex – I tried breaking and holding the drift button, I tried tapping the drift button. and I found this to be a very hard game because of that.
I tried and tried and tried guys, but I just could not get the corners perfect.
A good drift will see you taking the corner more quickly than just slowing down and turning, but managing a good drift can be tricky.Īnd it is very tricky to drift in this latest game. For the spawnlings who don’ t know, Drifting is where you get your car to power-slide around corners by breaking or in this game, pressing the “ drift button”. The original Ridge Racer was instrumental in popularising the drift mechanic in racing games. Darren, Hex, I love rough and tumble arcade racers, so I was very excited to hear that the latest Ridge Racer game has headed in that sort of direction, and it’ s called "Unbounded".
